The Stools Of A Healthy vs Unwell Child.

During the initial first few motions after the child is born, his/her motion is dark in colour, so you do not need to worry. However, after taking a few feed of breast mlk from the mother, the baby system will be cleansed and the bowel will look more normal with a light yellow colour.

This light yellow colour motion is like a thin mustard and it has no or little smell. The motion is usually smooth like a paste and do ot what lumps. The baby should pass motion easily without much pain. For a healthy child, you can expect the child to pass motion two or three times a day. When the motion is released, it should be release very naturally without having much wind. As the child grow, the frequency of daily motion will reduced to once a day or sometime two days once. The motion will also become more solid and the colour become darker.

For a breast feed baby, the motion is usually more watery and more often daily while a baby feed on infant formular the motion is more solid and less frequent. In the event that you notice the baby stool differ from the above description, this could be a sign that the baby may be unwell. What you should observe is the texture, colour, smell and how the motion is release as a indication if the child is unwell. If the child is unwell, the stool will be released with forces and together with huge amount of wind. The baby also cry a lot more than usual. So if you notice any different in the motion, this could be the first sign the child is unwell.
